David Oyelowo on playing justice seekers, peacekeepers and men on a mission | Fresh Air
David Oyelowo produced and stars in "Lawmen: Bass Reeves," a Paramount+ series about a formerly enslaved man who went on to become one of the nation's first Black Deputy U.S. Marshals. "We see many stories centering Black people, from a historical context, about how we've been brutalized, how we've been marginalized," Oyelowo says. "But very rarely, in my opinion, do you see those triumphant stories where we overcome."

Mr Whitaker , forgive me if I spelt your name INCORRECTLY. SNCC was not against the Civil Rights, its principles, not the civil rights leaders. When using the term " redirected " that sounds like Mr. Carmicheal was talking nonsense . Today, uneconomic citizens are still in the same situation, yes, they get larger amount paycheck , but the cost of living got financially larger, the irs increase their taxes, and again these citizens are in the same situation. Their sweat and blood only benefits the capitalist, never giving the individual that chance to be self sustaining. We are educated to work for money that sustained the capitalist and do nothing to sustain humanity. Love your warning , be aware of the back lash. We need to focus on why you started the movement, be true to the final goal achievement . Today we are still distracted by individualism, being out smarted by capitalism, this is why we can not reach the state of sustainable stability .

My opinion of Harry Truman dropped significantly with the disclosure that he shut this trial down. Would we be fighting with this issue right now with Trump and his cronies had the information from the Nuremberg defendants been allowed to be heard and the trial been allowed to reach its conclusion? This is one huge stain on Truman's reputation.

A piece of filth like Father Coughlin coudn't do what he did and have the effect that he did without enablers. The plug should have been pulled on his radio program and that sin lies with the radio company and the Catholic Church. Having been raised Catholic I know of many instances where the Church should have been taken to task and Father Coughlin is just one of many instances, albeit a huge one.

This POV by a "biracial" guy who is beholden to the power structure is hilarious. It's on brand with the children of African men and Anglo women, similar to Obama. So far removed from our experience, but charged with representing us by the power structure. This guy is as sociopolitcally Black as Drake. 16:20 is a perfect example of that. It sounds like he himself agrees with his handlers, that Black ppl can't and shouldn't govern themselves and better let Anglos overlook their organizations... or else. The question should've been posed to him: why can't Anglos donate to, and not seek to tear down organizations that don't center them? 😒 Notes on the BPP mascot: 21:15

All in the family, was a great TV show that reflected my own family in many ways. Probably all our families. Mom was creative and open minded,.....My Pop grew up during a time when men were men and behaved a certain way. My Pop never kissed me on my cheek,....he preferred to shake my hand. Certain times I had to refer to him as "Sir", showing him much respect and never sassing him back. He was stern, but fair,.....but was incapable of showing showing his (love) of me. Or his emotions. Many years later, when he saw how my brother-in-law's father behaved, where father and son exchanged kisses on their cheeks, every day. He awkwardly tried to emulate that, a few times. I was more than happy to shake his hand,....although a good, sincere hug, would have been icing on the cake. I don't recall him ever hugging me. My Mom liked to kiss me on my cheek, and offered up great hugs.

Classic Narcissistic Family who typically selects one child to be the "Golden Child" who can do no wrong while selecting another child to be " tbe family Scapegoat" who is blamed for everything from toddler-hood until the day they die." The Narcissistic parent offloads their shame, self-loathing projections onto the Scapegoat child. This Scapegoat child is typically the kind & sensitive child like Marys father. I know her father is so proud of her now as she has walked in his shoes to complete his legacy. Narcissistic parents typically pit all their children against each other so that the conflict between them will assure that the parent will receive all the love. I think Mary is phenomenal. She has tremendous courage to speak out and shes doing it for the greater good. Her father would have done the same had his evil heartless father had not broken him. ❤️ to Mary.
